FAQ

How can we help?

Getting started

What is LifeBots?

LifeBots hosts and automates bots in Second Life. Businesses use it to greet visitors, grow groups and send notices; communities use it for group chat and Discord; roleplayers use it for AI characters. Everything is managed from a web dashboard.

Do I need technical knowledge?

No. Everything is point-and-click in the dashboard. Developers can go further with the HTTP API, OAuth API and Workshop scripts.

Bot or Group Services: which do I need?

If you only need group features (notices, greeter, chat, Discord, translation), Group Services on our shared bot are the simplest, with no bot to own. If you have a Full Bot, those group features are already included for groups it runs. If you want a named avatar with its own inventory, HUDs, AI or add-ons, choose a Lite or Full bot.

How do I get started?

Create a free account, then either add a bot (any SL account you own) or add a group for Group Services. Most people are running within minutes.

Business & groups

Can I schedule notices weeks in advance?

Yes. Full Bots include group notice and group IM scheduling, one-off or recurring, with attachments.

Can my staff manage notices without my login?

Yes. Invite them as team members and grant only the groups and actions they need.

Is Discord sync two-way?

Yes. Messages flow both ways between your SL group chat and the linked Discord channel.

Pricing & billing

How does billing work?

Everything is billed weekly in Linden Dollars (L$) from your LifeBots wallet. Longer renewals may be discounted.

How do I add L$ to my wallet?

Pay any LifeBots terminal in-world, for example at our HQ in Goa (32, 50, 3599). You can also renew directly at the terminal.

What happens if I don't renew in time?

Services pause, but your settings are kept. Renew any time and everything resumes.

How are add-ons priced?

Add-ons are a one-time purchase per bot. Buy an add-on once and it stays on that bot with no weekly fee. Each bot needs its own copy, and many add-ons are free.

How is AI billed?

AI uses prepaid LB$ credits, separate from your weekly plan, so you only pay for the conversations your bot actually has.

Bots & technical

Can I use an existing avatar as a bot?

Yes, any Second Life account you own. We recommend a dedicated account.

Can I upgrade from Lite to Full?

Yes, and your settings are kept.

What if my bot goes offline?

We monitor bots continuously and restart them automatically. You're notified if something needs your attention.

Is there an API?

Yes. Every plan includes the HTTP API, and the OAuth API lets you build apps for other residents. Documentation is public.

Features

Do I need my own bot to greet visitors and send notices?

No. Group Services run on LifeBots-managed bots, so you only pay for the services you turn on. If you want a branded bot with its own name and inventory, pick a Lite or Full bot instead.

Can the bot hand out items like landmarks or gifts?

Yes. Notices can carry attachments from your bot's inventory, such as landmarks, notecards and gifts.

Can my staff help without sharing my password?

Yes. Invite them as team members and choose exactly which bots, groups and tools each person can use.

What does "no bot required" mean?

You add our managed bot to your group with the right role, choose services, and pay per service per week. We keep the bot online, so you never handle a bot account.

I already have a LifeBots bot. Do I pay for group services too?

Not with a Full Bot. Every group service is included for groups your own Full Bot runs. The weekly group service price only applies when our shared bot runs the group.

Can I connect more than one group to Discord?

Yes. Each group can be bridged to its own Discord channel.

Can one bot manage several regions?

Yes. Configure each region separately from the same dashboard.

How is AI usage billed?

AI runs on prepaid LB$ credits, separate from the weekly bot fee. Different models cost different amounts per message, so you choose the balance of quality and cost.

Is there a page just for family roleplay?

Yes. See our Family Roleplay page for family-specific bots, helper bots and setups.

Is API access included?

Yes, API access comes with every bot plan.

Where are the docs?

All API documentation is public, no login needed. Start at the Documentation hub.

Can I turn services on and off?

Yes. Your weekly price is the sum of the services you have enabled.

What if I later get my own bot?

Move the group to your own Full Bot and every group service becomes included, with no weekly group fee.

Can I use an avatar I already have?

Yes, any Second Life account you own. We recommend a dedicated account for your bot.

What happens if I don't renew?

The bot goes offline but your settings are kept. Renew from your wallet or at our in-world terminals and it comes back.

Do I need a Full bot for AI?

No. The AI add-on comes with both Lite and Full bots, and replies are paid from LB$ credits. Full bots add AI Voice, moods, animations, sounds and surrounding awareness.

How does AI Voice work?

On a Full Bot, turn on AI Voice and pick a voice. Your bot joins voice chat, speaks its replies out loud and answers people who talk to it. Speech is paid from the same LB$ credits as text replies.

How do credits work?

Buy LB$ credits from your wallet. Each AI reply uses a small amount depending on the model you picked.

Do team members pay anything?

No. They work with the bots and groups you share with them; billing stays on your account.
